Matt Wells

Position – Full Back
DOB – 4/5/1979
Debut v Susies Salon – Jul 2000
Nicknames – Wellsy, Ginger Badger

Matt made his debut along with Rob Sterry in the drug-filled Amsterdam trip of 2000, and holds an unwanted club record as he went over 130 games before scoring his first goal, finally breaking that duck at West Ham in 2008. Voted most improved player three times, Matt also served as club treasurer for a number of years and accepted the poisoned chalice of organising the club’s fixtures from 2009-12, maintaining the club’s proud run of completing 20 league fixtures in each of his three seasons in the role. As a result of his efforts, Matt was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2009. If we can just stop him wearing his big ginger sweater into the showers after playing, we’d be onto a right winner.
