14. Connor Church

Position – Left Midfield
DOB – TBC
Debut – Unknown, 2016
Nicknames – Churchy, Church Dog

Connor joined the club in 2016 having been cajoled by fellow WFC staff members, his WIFC career took off at his first Worldnet, as a wonder-strike from the edge of the box gave the Internet ‘Orns a memorable win against tournament favourites RC Lens, which was celebrated long into the night. Though he followed that with a penalty shoot-out miss in the quarter-final against Runcorn, Connor’s first showing set the tone for a series of skilful displays in midfield.

Connor’s Q and A

Describe yourself in a sentence

Nerd.

What was the first WFC game you went to and what can you remember about it?

Honestly can’t remember my first ever game but can recall snippets of being at the 1999 play-off final against Bolton, specifically walking towards the Wembley twin towers with my family. Apparently, it was a pretty good game…

Finest ever WFC memory

Can’t look beyond Deeney’s winner in the play-off semi-final against Leicester City. Unlikely to experience a moment like that at football again.

Worst away trip and why

Crystal Palace. 1-0 up with five minutes to go but a red card and two goals later made for a miserable journey home on the tube.

WIFC playing highlight

Scoring a late winner against RC Lens at Worldnet with arguably one of my best goals personally scored on a football pitch. Unfortunately it’s not getting better than that so it’s all downhill from here…

Favourite WIFC moment

The Worldnet 2016 night out in Preston.
